Overview
Redeemer Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod located in Arkansas City, Kansas, a small town of about 12,000 people in south-central Kansas.
Like many churches, Redeemer had an active ministry and produced a steady stream of content—sermons, newsletters, worship videos, and church communications. But very little of that content was easy to find online.
The church’s leadership wanted a modern website that would:
- Help people in the community find the church when searching online
- Showcase the church’s ongoing content and ministry
- Provide a modern, attractive design
- Be easy for the church to update
- Encourage visitors to take the next step and come visit
Within one week of launching the new website, Redeemer began appearing on page one of Google for searches such as:
- “churches in Arkansas City Kansas”
- “Lutheran church Arkansas City”
- “LCMS church Arkansas City”
- “churches in Arkansas City KS”
The Challenge for Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City, Kansas
Before the redesign, Redeemer already had a website and Google Business Profile, but both platforms suffered from problems that prevented them from performing well online.

Outdated Design
The site had an older design that did not reflect the church’s active ministry or communicate effectively with modern web users.
Major SEO Issues
Many parts of the website used images instead of text, which prevented search engines from understanding the content.
As a result, the church barely appeared in Google search results for local church queries. The website was practically invisible in the link results.
Difficult Content Management
Redeemer regularly produced important content such as:
- Sermons
- Worship service videos
- Newsletters
- Bulletins
- Monthly Scripture memory verses
However, the website had no good system for organizing or publishing this material.
Poor Mobile Experience
The site was not mobile-friendly, which is a major problem since most people search for churches on their phones.
Weak Google Business Profile
The church’s Google Business Profile was incomplete and poorly optimized, limiting its visibility in Google Maps and local search.
The Strategy
The goal of the project was simple:
Make Redeemer one of the first churches people encounter when searching online in Arkansas City.
To accomplish this, the project focused on three areas:
- A modern, conversion-focused website
- A church-specific content management system
- Aggressive local SEO optimization
The Website Rebuild for Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City, Kansas
The church received a full website redesign built on Webflow.
Webflow provides several technical advantages:
- fast page speeds
- strong security
- excellent mobile performance
But the real innovation was the church-specific CMS architecture built for the site.
The system was designed specifically for the types of content churches produce.
Custom Church CMS Collections
The site includes dedicated content systems for:
- Sermons
- Worship videos
- Newsletters
- Articles
- Special events
- Schedule items
- Staff and ministry team members

This allows church leadership to easily publish and organize ministry content while maintaining a consistent visual design. New content is published simply by filling out forms. These forms allow users to include items such as simple text, rich text, files, links, dates, and more.

The forms create beautiful, formatted pages on the front end of the website. This system ensures that the website continues to look good, with consistent formatting across pages, into the future.

The CMS structure was designed by a pastor who understands how churches communicate and what content they produce.

Citation Building
To strengthen local search signals:

- All citations were indexed to ensure search engines recognized them
On-Site SEO
The website itself was optimized for local search queries.
Key improvements included:
- Location keywords in titles and headings
- Optimized meta titles and descriptions
- Internal linking using location-based anchor text
- Schema markup for search engines
